最近購入したファッション関連の洋書。見た目もオシャレ、内容もたっぷり！

Hey babes!

先日地元の本屋さんがワゴンセールをやってて、あまりにも可愛かった洋書を３冊購入。

３冊とも女の子の胸が高鳴る内容！

お気に入りの本、ちょっくら読みたくなる本は枕元に置いておく派。

I was walking in a department store near my house and bumped into a wagon book sale. I came across these three beautiful books so I decided to take them home. I put some of my favorite books by my bed so that I can read it before I go to bed or when I’m bored without having to get out from my bed. How lazy of me.

まず一冊目は

Norman Parkinson

Portraits in Fashion

by Robin Muir (Foreward by Iman)

２０世紀における代表的な天才ファッションフォトグラファー・Norman Parkinson。

彼についての本をフォトグラフィーキュレーターのRobin Muirが書いてる本。

パーキンソンのフォトグラファー人生、彼の初めての撮影、仕事への姿勢、写真への想いなどなどとにかく内容ぎっしり。

といっても、この間買ったばかりだからまだ冒頭部分しか読めてないんだけども！

彼の作品を撮影された年代別（３０〜８０年代）まで、それぞれ写真付きで解説されてるから、ファッションフォトグラフィーがどのように変わって行ったのか、写真だけではなくファッションがどのように変化していったのか、雑誌のエディトリアルの変遷、時代のよって異なる色彩感覚、色んなものが見えてくる・・・

This book is about Norman Parkinson, who was one of the greatest fashion photographer in the 20th century. Photography curator– Robin Muir is the author of this amazing book. The book begins with Parkinson’s life as a photographer, his first photoshoot, his passion towards fashion photography, and so on. Well to be honest, I only got this book few days ago so I’ve only read a little bit of it, but I can tell that this book is going to be an exciting one. It also shows his actual photos that he took in the 30s~80s. So there are 5 chapters of that. I can really see how fashion photography evolved through this era and how fashion itself changed, the trend of magazine editorial designs and difference in colors that they use…. everything pretty much. It’s amazing.

お次は

EDIE FACTORY GIRL

by Nat Finkelstein and David Dalton

この本は６０年代のNYで大活躍したモデル、そして女優であったEdie Sedgwick（エディー・セジウィック）についての本。彼女の親は牧場主で大金持ち、もちろんEdie自身お嬢様として育てられたらしいんだけど、Edieはとてつもなく厳しいお父さんとの父娘関係がうまく行かなくて拒食症、学校の中退を繰り返す人生・・・

そんなちょっと影のある彼女には他の人にはない魅力があったんだね〜。

１９６５年にウォーホールと出会って、彼のファクトリーに出入りするようになったんだけど、ウォーホ—ルに連れられて彼女は毎日のようにドラッグとパーティーに明け暮れる生活になった。

まあ、それだけではなく、ウォーホールの映画に出演した頃某有名雑誌で取り上げられるようになって、人気が出たら、ボブ・ディランと交際を始めてウォーホールと距離を置くように。

その後ディランと分かれてこの頃ドラッグで心も体も蝕まれて、精神病院に入退院を繰り返す生活になる。

１９７１年、その病院で同じく入院していたマイケル・ポストと結婚するけど、その年に睡眠薬の過剰摂取から亡くなってしまう・・・その時、彼女は２８歳。

なんだか、ケイトモスの１ジェネレーション前って感じの人でしょ？

やっぱり魅力のある人って、ここまでじゃないにしろ、黒い何かに付きまとわれてるのかもしれない・・・・なんて感じる。ドラッグにしても、男にしても、アルコールにしても。

this book is about Edie Sedgwick, who was a popular actress/model in the 60s. She was raised by a very rich family, but she was never happy since her father was overly strict over her that she repeatedly dropped out of school and suffered anorexia. She met Warhole in 1965, and began to hang around at his factory since then. They became so close and Warhole was deeply in love with her beautiful and stunning looks along with her sophisticated and rich family background which enhanced her elegant posture and actions. Warhole took her everywhere he went, even to parties full of drugs. Not only did Warhole give her a bad influence, he also used Edie in his own film which made her popular and at the same time a famous fashion magazine(sorry I cannot mention it but you know which one) which set her popularity on fire. She dated Bob Dilan but broke up with him, and after that she became mentally ill she had to go see the doctor regularly. In 1971, she met Michael Post, who is the man she married to, but in the same year that she got married, Edie overdosed sleeping pills and passed away— she was only 28years then.

of course I knew who Edie Sedgwick was, but I didn’t know this much about her and I was surprised to learn her life in details. I felt like she has something in common with Kate Moss…(I have a book “Sex, drugs and a rock chick” written about Kate Moss’ life) I’m not sure if it’s an appropriate thing to mention but I felt that woman with exceptional attractiveness always has something black following her around. Whether it’s drugs or bad man or alcohol.

まあまだ細かいところ全然読んでないんだけどね。（笑）

とりあえずこの本はEdieの魅力が最大限に引き出されてるある種の写真集のような本。

自分では書いてないけど、自叙伝みたいなものね。

“Poor Little Rich Girl”… RichなのにPoorなのが皮肉だね。

そう、なんか彼女って全身から皮肉さとむなしさを放ってる。

それが美しいんだけど。不思議だ〜。

どのページも色彩が鮮やかで、可愛いのに内容はセンセーショナル。

そんなところもEdie Sedgwick自身を表現してるようで面白い。

Well of course again i haven’t read the details yet lol But just flipping over the page, i can really see her attractiveness as a woman. “Poor Little Rich Girl”… How sarcastic is that? Yes, I realized how I feel sarcasm and futility from her photos. And that’s what makes her so beautiful. I also love the colors in this book. The book itself looks sweet and cute, but what’s written in it is sensational and shocking. Just like Edie, it’s a sarcastic book. I love it.

そして最後。

Beauty Rules

by Bobbi Brown

ボビーブラウンの、メイクのフィルターを通した「美」についての本！

メイクのHow To本かと思ってみたら、それだけではなくてメイクを通してどうやったら自分に自信が持てるようになるか、インナービューティーが育つかなどなど、内面的なことにもたくさん触れていて女子の美意識をあげてくれるような本。

When I picked up this book, I thought it was going to be about make up tutorials and stuff like that but it wasn’t exactly so; of course it has tutorials, but mainly it’s about how to become confident about yourself and to grow inner beauty. Reading this book really motivates me to become a better woman, a better person.

面白いの。最初、メイクの話じゃなくてBobbi Brownのベーシックライフルールから始まるの！

人には優しく、正直に、リスクはおかす、諦めない、時間を守る、何かに興味を持つ、オープンになる、良いことをする、頑張る、人の目を見る。

シンプルだし、こんなの当たり前だろ、こんなのもうやってるわって思うかもしれないけどよーく考えてみて。絶対全部出来てないから。（笑）

基本的なことが、実際一番難しいことでもあるんだよね。

It’s simple yet difficult, right? You think you can do this, you think it’s so obvious, but actually the basics are the most difficult thing to really absorb it to your body and soul. These rules are EXACTLY what I need to do right now in life. Great motivation!!
