今日はとあるファッションモデルを紹介。

彼女の名前は、Lea T .

 

1981年生まれ、３３歳と、決して若いモデルではない。

身長は１８０cm、かなりのプロポーション。

ブラジル出身、イタリア育ち。

 

だけど彼女は少し周りのモデルとは違う。

違うというか、「違う」という風に捉えられがちってところかな。

 

じゃあ、彼女の何がそんなにスペシャルなのか？

 

トランスセクシュアル（性転換をした）モデルである、ということ。

 

彼女はもともとは男性で、本来の姿に戻るために女性になったモデル。

 

そしてそんなLea Tを一躍時のモデルにしたのは、Riccardo Tisci。

彼が彼女をキャンペーンモデルに起用して、一気に注目を浴びた。

 

果たしてそれは、Leaがトランスセクシュアルだったからか？

それとも純粋に彼女が美しいモデルだったからか？

 

 

Today I wanted to introduce you to my favorite model, Lea T. She was born in 1981, which means she is 33 years old… not so young in the modeling industry. 180cm tall, amazing style. Born in Brazil, raised up in Italy. She sounds like an ordinary model, tall, beautiful, high fashion model just like any others. So what is so special about her? Well, she is a “transsexual model”. She was a male, Leandro, and became who she actually was by becoming a female. She is the muse of Riccardo Tisci, the designer of GIVENCHY. He used her in his 2010 AW campaign and she became one of the top supermodels, actually, the ever-first transsexual super model. But was she talked about a lot because of her beauty as a model, or as a “transsexual” model, is my question.

 

 

どうなんだろう。

りさはなんとなく、彼女がトランスセクシュアルじゃなかったらここまでのヒットにはならなかったんじゃないかなと思う。

 

別に、トランスセクシュアルだからキャンペーンに起用されることがネガティブなことではないけどね。

彼女にとっては、「性別を変えて本来の姿に戻った自分」自体が「自分」なんだと思うし、それをモデル・写真を通じて表現出来るってことが十分有意義なことであると思う。

 

ただ、今色んなライフスタイル、自由なアイデンティティーを持つことに対して世の中が寛容になってきてるはずなのに、まだ「トランスセクシュアルモデル」とかいうくくりでファッションポータルサイトに見出し書かれてたりするのを見ると、この世の中まだまだこれからだなって勝手に感じる。

 

Lea自身、どんな気持ちなのかはりさには分からないし、想像だけど・・・

もしりさが男性として生まれて、でも心は女性で、女性としてモデルをすることにしたらやっぱり「トランスセクシュアルモデル」ていうくくりにされたくないなって思っちゃうんだろうな〜って、想像。

 

ファッションって自分を表現することだし、そういう意味でものすごい「自己表現」の分野に長けてると思う。

だから、こういう変な（というかなんというか・・・）くくりを、その分野に長けてるはずのファッション業界がしてるっていうのが少し残念だな、なんて感じたり。

 

ファッションを通じて、この業界を通じて変えられるものって絶対大きいと思うんだよね。

 

たかが服、たかが雑誌、たかがファッションショーっていう人も多いけど、りさはファッションの力って「人をより良い方へ変えてくれる原動力」になるってすごい信じてるから、

 

Lea Tの「トランスセクシュアルモデル」が数年後には「Lea T、GIVENCHYのミューズ」のみの表記に変わることを願ってるし、そういう社会になるようにファッションを通じて色々発信して行きたいな、って最近すごく強い想いが胸にある！

 

 

自分のなりたい自分になることの楽しさとか、自分に自信を持つと生まれる美しさとか、自分を表現するツールが言葉や態度だけじゃなくて靴・髪型・メイク・服って選択肢を増やしてくれるところとか、ファッションを通じるともっともっと体感出来る。

 

だからファッション大好き！

I don’t know. But I would say that the answer is the former one. I suppose she was talked about a lot because she was a “transsexual” model. Well, I guess there is no right answer to this question. Of course it’s not a negative thing to be a transsexual model and be used as a campaign model of GIVENCHY because of that. It means that she is being accepted by the industry as who she really is, and she got the chance to become one of the top supermodels, and being able to express her as her real, true identity is meaningful. But now that the world is moving towards “diversity is what we need in this world” type of place, I thought describing her as a “transsexual supermodel” in every title of the article is kind of contradicting. I don’t even know what lea t is feeling about it. may be she doesn’t give a shit about it. But if I was a transsexual model, I don’t want to be a “transsexual model”, I’d rather want to be just a “supermodel”. Strictly in my opinion! Fashion is to express who you are, so this industry should be stronger in that field. That is why I feel really confused when these fashion portal web articles give Lea the name of “transsexual supermodel”, when fashion industry should be one of the most liberal on self interpretation. I feel like fashion is not only an entertainment, it’s not just clothes, it’s not just fashion models being gorgeous, it really has this power to change the world and the people. I really believe that fashion has big influence; you can FEEL how fun it is to be yourself, how exciting it is to have more than words and attitudes to express yourself, like shoes, clothes, make up, hairstyle and lots more things talk about you!
